Condemning Murder In All Its Forms

 No Standing In the Matter

Normal discourse has resumed following the lawless shooting and murders perpetrated in a Planned Parenthood office in Colorado.  All that incendiary rhetoric by anti-abortion fanatics has allegedly driven a man to do evil things.  Anti-abortion advocates are ultimately responsible.

We will cite entertainer Bette Midler as representative of this kind of inane discourse:

“Thanks to overheated screeds spewing from the mouths of the GOP, and in Congress, innocent people have died in CO, including a policeman,” Midler wrote.

All heat and no light.

A more serious analysis of the murders that occurred at the Planned Parenthood venue would run something like this.  Those who oppose abortion and advocate against it, want to see it outlawed in all forms.  They ground their arguments on the principle that abortion is a murderous act.  It always involves killing another human being.

Therefore, the anti-abortionist has principled, conscientious grounds strenuously and vehemently to condemn the murders committed by the Planned Parenthood shooter.  Murder is murder is murder.
  The anti-abortionist, however, cannot be truthful or consistent in his opposition to abortion, on the one hand, and not equally condemn the actions of the shooter, on the other.  Consequently, anti-abortionists do so--and in a vehement and principled manner.

But the pro-abort lobby has little standing in the matter.   The pro-abort lobby wants to condemn murder on the one hand and yet condone and justify it, on the other.  All we ask for is a little consistency.  The shooter committed reprehensible murder at the Planned Parenthood facility, and, if found guilty, warrants capital punishment.  So argue the Planned Parenthood apologetes.  They stand with us on this.

But, out of the other side of their mouth, they defend vehemently the "right" of Planned Parenthood to murder innocent children.  Their justifications for murdering the most defenceless and innocent amongst us stands  condemned by their own mouths.

For our part, our condemnation of the murders at the Planned Parenthood facility demands that we condemn the equally murderous acts habitually performed within the facility.
