Catholic League Highlights Kamala Harris’s ‘Catholic Problem’
Thomas D. Williams
Breitbart News
Catholic League President Bill Donohue warned of Sen. Kamala Harris’s (D-CA) ‘Catholic problem’ in an essay this week, insisting that Biden’s running mate will have a hard time winning over Catholic voters due to her “positions on an array of moral issues.”
As a radical supporter of abortion rights, Harris has alienated pro-life voters, but she has gone further still, tainting herself “with the brush of anti-Catholicism,” Dr. Donohue states. [And anti-Christianism in general. Ed.]
“In 2018, she sought to stop a Trump nominee for a seat on the federal bench simply because he was Catholic,” Donohue notes. “In doing so, she invoked a religious test for the bench, a patently unconstitutional act.”
As Michael Gerson echoes in an op-ed Friday in the Washington Post, Harris posed a series of “inappropriate questions” to federal district court nominee Brian Buescher, suggesting that “being a member of the Knights of Columbus — a nearly 2 million-member Catholic social and charitable organization — was disqualifying for the federal bench.”
“Harris was effectively treating membership in a distinctly Catholic organization as if it were allegiance to a hate group,” Gerson writes.

"It's All About Me" Says The Atheist
Christians Receive a Back Handed Compliment
Harvard sociologist, Steven Pinker jumped to the heart of the matter. Claiming the high moral ground for atheism, he removed all doubt when he argued that Christianity was a malignant religion.
It took us about ten minutes to stop laughing. What a dumb position to take!
Harvard psychology professor Steven Pinker said Thursday that the push for reopening society from lockdowns comes from Christianity’s “malignant delusion” of belief in an afterlife. Atheists who believe in this life alone are more concerned with health and safety, Professor Pinker suggested in a Tweet, while Christians tend to devalue “actual lives” and live a riskier existence. [Breitbart]Of course Pinker had to disclose the underlying principles of his world view in order to reach such a bizarre conclusion. He has to acknowledge that selfish preoccupation with one's own life and existence is the true and reasonable starting position for atheistic morality. Because of this selfist view he is able to argue that the only ground for true happiness and fulfilment is to go through life with a world-view that reads something like:
Get all you canIn other words, it's all about ME.
Can all you get,
Poison the rest.
Pinker was responding to an article this week in the Washington Post, which examined findings that Democrats take the virus “more seriously” than Republicans and are more willing to support restrictive government edicts in response to the pandemic.Consequently, government edicts can justify all sorts of abuse and neglect of the elderly, the weak, the sick, and the bereft.
But Christian march to the beat of a very different Drummer. Their hope is not to be found in this world, but in the one to come. As a result, Christians are far more caring and concerned about the welfare of others than chaps like Pinker.
Therefore, while we are warned that it profits a man nothing if he gain the whole world and lose himself, the expectation of a new earth must not weaken but rather stimulate our concern for cultivating this one. For here grows the body of a new human family, a body which even now is able to give some kind of foreshadowing of the new age.
Study after study has found that such “theory” is borne out in practice as well, with religious people proving far more generous with their time and money than atheists.
In one of the largest studies of its kind, the massive Social Capital Community Benchmark Survey in 2000 found that religious people are 25 percentage points more likely than secularists to donate money and 23 points more likely to volunteer their time.

Phillip Jensen on the Australian Rugby Imbroglio
Israel Folau and Three Myths of a Changing Society
Phillip Jensen
Talks, Articles Resources
As Australians celebrate Easter, I want to assert, as a Christian, that because of his love, Jesus died and rose again to bear the sin and judgement of we sinners who deserve his condemnation. So, with all Christians, in obedience to our Saviour, I would call on all to repent and find forgiveness while they may.

However, I write this article not as a Christian but as an Australian citizen and lifetime rugby supporter, who happens to be a Christian, seeking what I see as the good of society. Furthermore, I am writing simply on the basis of public media information, without knowing the full details of Israel Folau’s employment. As a Christian, I don’t expect the Government or anybody to defend me, or my preaching of the gospel. They crucified my Lord and I am not to be surprised by any hostility towards his people. But as an Australian rugby supporter, I do think it is in the best interest of everybody to identify the issues behind this present imbroglio and do something about them, in order to protect our society and the game of rugby.
Whether you agree or don’t agree with Israel Folau, his sacking is a test case revealing the deep unresolved problems of our changing society. It’s much more than simply breaking a contract.

Letter From the UK (About the Totalitarian Treatment of a Nurse)
Forget Burkas
Christianity's the faith that is really under siege
Peter Hitchens
Daily Mail
How we love fretting about the wrong thing. While the country convulses itself about Islamic face veils, a truly disturbing event, affecting our freedom and our future, goes almost unobserved.
This is the creepy and totalitarian treatment of a Christian nurse, Sarah Kuteh, sacked from an NHS hospital for daring to suggest that a patient she was treating might like to go to church and (horror of horrors) ‘inappropriately gave a Bible to a patient’.
The good news is that Ms Kuteh, whose abilities as a nurse have never once been questioned, has now been allowed back to work by the political commissars who increasingly control our country. But the price of this is a humiliating process of self- criticism, of the sort once usual in communist states.

Judicial Pushback
Christian Club Reinstated
LifeSiteNews
IOWA CITY, January 26, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – A Christian group has prevailed in court and will be reinstated as a campus organization after being stripped of club status for disqualifying an active homosexual from running for its leadership position.
U.S. District Court Judge Stephanie Rose granted a temporary injunction blocking the University of Iowa’s (UI) ban against the campus Christian group Business Leaders in Christ (BLinC). Tuesday’s decision allowed BLinC to recruit at a fair in the student union on Wednesday.
“The University has to stop discriminating against BLinC because of its religious beliefs,” Becket Fund attorney Eric Baxter stated in a press release. “Every other group on campus gets to select leaders who embrace their mission. Religious groups don’t get second-class treatment.”
Gay activist Marcus Miller applied for BLinC leadership, but refused to agree to BLinC’s Statement of Faith, which includes sexual chastity outside heterosexual marriage. “He expressly stated that he rejected BLinC’s religious beliefs and would not follow them,” the group explained. Miller then filed a complaint with the university, claiming he was rejected because he is gay. UI in turn yanked BLinC’s status as a registered student group, effectively halting their activities on campus.

Canadian Christians Face Government Discrimination
Inapplicable For Federal Job Funding Due to Pro-abortion Clause
Kate Scanlon
The Blaze
Canadian Christians say they can’t apply for a federal job funding program called the Canada Summer Jobs program because it would require them to voice support for abortion, the Ottawa Citizen reported.
What is the Canada Summer Jobs program?
According to the Canadian government, the program provides funding to some nonprofits, public sector employers and small business so they can offer summer jobs to students. The Citizen reported the program subsidizes about 70,000 jobs with $113 million each year.
However, the government says CSJ applicants “will be required to attest that both the job and the organization’s core mandate respect individual human rights in Canada, including the values underlying the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms as well as other rights.”
These rights are listed as “reproductive rights and the right to be free from discrimination on the basis of sex, religion, race, national or ethnic origin, colour, mental or physical disability, sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.” The clause states that “reproductive rights” includes “the right to access safe and legal abortions.”
The document states that such rules will “prevent Government of Canada funding from flowing to organization whose mandates or projects may not respect individual human rights, the values underlying the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and associated case law” and will “prevent youth (as young as 15 years of age) from being exposed to employment within organizations that may promote positions that are contrary to the values enshrined in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and associated case law.”

More Evidence that the UN is Ignoring Christian Refugees
The Barnabas Fund
An official information request submitted to the New Zealand government by one of our supporters has revealed further evidence of the institutional discrimination against Syrian Christian refugees by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).
The government’s response to the request, made under New Zealand’s Official Information Act, revealed that 383 Syrian refugees were resettled in New Zealand in 2016 either as part of its annual refugee quota or additional emergency intake of Syrian refugees. However, only 6 of these were Christians (1.5%) while the remaining 377 (98.5%) were Muslims.

Thousands of Christian refugees remain stranded in camps, like this one in Erbil, Iraq.
What is particularly striking is that the percentage of Christians resettled in NZ last year is identical to that of Syrian refugees resettled to the UK last year – and both countries only accept Syrian refugees who have been directly referred to them by the UNHCR.
This is despite it being widely accepted that 10% of Syria’s pre-war population were Christians. In fact, this is stated in the NZ government’s own factsheet providing advice for those seeking to help Syrian refugees adjust to NZ.
It is also, of course, widely accepted that Christians have been specifically targeted and even faced genocide at the hands of jihadists in Syria.

Unusual and Rare
A Believing, Professing Christian
Our view of politicians who profess to believe in Jesus is cynical to say the least. The reason is that Messiah means many different things to different people. All Unbelievers weave and construct a doctrine of Christ after their own lusts and prejudices. Their Christ is made after their own image. These comments are even more true of politicians and public figures than ordinary people.
Nonetheless there is something different, we believe, at least thus far, with respect to the present UK Prime Minister, Theresa May. It is sufficiently unusual to warrant The Guardian publishing an article on the subject.
As the only child of a vicar, Theresa May’s early Christmases inevitably revolved around the parish church. She attended midnight mass on Christmas Eve, and was back in church the following morning, with her mother playing the organ and her father preaching the sermon. After church, her father often had pastoral visits to make to lonely or bereaved parishioners. Little Theresa – and her presents – had to wait.May clearly has a faith which has shaped her practice over many years. She was a practising Christian before her political elevation. That practice has continued, so that the latter builds upon and conforms with the former. She has spoken three times recently about her personal commitment to Christ and His Church. Not, please note, to an extrinsic ethic, or an ideal, or a tradition, but to her identity as a Christian. She has been publicly professing her faith. All Christians immediately grasp the significance of such an act.
Life in the rural Oxfordshire vicarage, and the religious devotion of her parents, Hugh and Zaidee Brasier, had a profound impact on the girl who would grow up to be prime minister. May’s Christmas interview with the Radio Times marks the third time in just over a week that she has spoken publicly about her Christian faith, suggesting she may be more ready to acknowledge her personal beliefs than her immediate predecessors. . . .

How Did It Come to This?
God Will Not Be Mocked
The West did not become pagan overnight. Nor did it become militantly anti-Christian since Barack Obama was elected President of the United States. These changes have been coming over three hundred years. Christians and churches have been caught like a frog in the pot.
Many have blithely gone along thinking all was hunky dory. But suddenly they face hostile rules, workplaces, regulations, law courts, and general public opprobrium--apparently out of nowhere--and they are confused, left staggering. It as if they had been walking peacefully along the sidewalk, only to have someone come up behind them and smash them to the ground with a "king hit". Where did that come from?
But in reality these changes, whilst now producing suppurating, rotten fruit, have been long in the generation and nurture. One of the earliest battlegrounds was education. Prior to what we call the Modern Period, education was largely the care and concern of Christians and churches. But following the pagan "Enlightenment" and the French Revolution, education was wrested away from Christendom, and progressively placed firmly in the hands of statists.

The French and Italian branches of the liberal tradition that stems from the French Revolution treated religion as an enemy. The German, British, and Scandinavian branch treated it as a competitor. Later, liberals in most places gave up liberal ideas for some amalgam of Marxism and Freudianism, firmly embedded in statism. The pure version of these doctrines, in addition to the late-nineteenth-century vitalism that merged with other elements to form fascism, have taken European souls from Christianity and Judaism.

Christian Converts Persecution by Muslims in Germany
Chris Tomlinson
Breitbart London
A new study shows that potentially thousands of Christians have been attacked and harassed in German migrant homes by Muslim guards and fellow migrants.
Multiple human rights organizations are warning the German government of the conditions that Christians in asylum homes are being subjected to. One organization in particular has chronicled 231 specific cases of the harassment of Christians by Muslim migrants and Muslim security guards in asylum homes.
Open Doors is a humanitarian relief organization that specializes in helping Christians who are persecuted worldwide. Markus Rode, a member of the group, said that the study is only “the tip of the iceberg” and called for more action to address the problem Frankfurter Allgemeine reports.

Douglas Wilson's Letter From Moscow
The Fall of Western Snivelization
It is as though someone dropped our culture, what remains of it, into a fifty gallon drum of solvent, and then complained loudly when the whole thing wound up as a solution. That’s not the kind of solution I meant, complained the president.
For the time being, the trappings still look fine. We look around and
see cities, and concerts, and monuments, and mammon, and armies, and
news reports, all done with the very latest developments in CGI. With
these images flashing on the tall backdrop of a very deep stage, our
president walks out to the center, faces us, and proves himself to be a
very able platitudinarian. But nothing coheres any more, and the impressiveness is all surface. It is like discovering a shining body of water the size of the Pacific and then finding out it was ankle deep all the way across. To change the image somewhat abruptly, it is like that free couch left outside the fraternity at the beginning of summer — you can take it or leave it.
Scripture tells us that Christ is the one in whom all things hold together (Col. 1:17
). Our secular society laughed. We scoffed. That is simply ridiculous, we said. We can hold it together without Him.

Pathetic, Asinine Quibblers
A Higher Level of Maturity Needed
Media stars and public celebrities are usually not the smartest pins in the cushion. But their antics and views are celebrated and worshipped as if they were demi-gods. Thus passes the fatuousness of the age. Hans Fiene,a Lutheran pastor in Illinois has got stuck into Scarlett Johansson, for her participation in an asinine attack upon the Bible.
He seeks to offer some coaching, so that if she and her coterie wish to malign and attack the Scriptures and the Christian faith they should get much more serious artillery.

Scarlett Johansson, Sexing Up The Bible Won’t Defeat Christianity
As a Christian, I don’t know if it’s good form to give tactical advice to those on the other side of the spiritual warfare battlefield. Since I don’t desire Christianity’s destruction, I probably shouldn’t offer any pointers for how to accomplish this to those want to raze the world’s sanctuaries and tango atop the rubble.
On the other hand, Jesus did promise that the gates of hell will not prevail against his church, so giving despisers of the faith a more effective strategy to accomplish a goal they’ll never accomplish is a bit of a sanctified brag, a holy boast in the Savior whose supposed weakness is infinitely stronger than the strength of his enemies. So, in response to Scarlett Johansson reading sections of the Bible in a “porn voice” on “Saturday Night Live” writer Mike O’Brien’s upcoming comedy album, let’s go with the other hand.
For Johansson, O’Brien, and those such as Ron Dicker of Huffington Post, who found this comedic collaboration to be delightful, I get it. You don’t like Christianity.

Faithful Consistency
Refining Fire
The Scriptures tell us that when God comes in judgment, it often begins with the household of God. We read:
The Scriptures tell us that when God comes in judgment, it often begins with the household of God. We read:
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And,Our constant prayer is that God will move quickly and powerfully to arrest and reverse apostasy in the West. As He does so, we can expect that His people will firstly be refined by hardship and oppression. What form might this take? Various forms.
“If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good. [I Peter 4: 12-19]

In the US, one politician is calling out the Christophobia now regnant in the Democratic Party. Ted Cruz has spoken of a "liberal fascism" in the Democratic Party, and a "rabid zealotry" in Democratic ranks. Here's an article reporting on the Senator's allegations:
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Saturday said Democrats had gone to extremes in their persecution of Christians. “Today’s Democratic Party has decided there is no room for Christians in today’s Democratic Party,” he said at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition summit in Waukee, Iowa. “There is a liberal fascism that is going after Christian believers,” the 2016 GOP presidential candidate continued. “It is heartbreaking,” Cruz argued. “But it is so extreme, it is waking people up.”
Cruz said same-sex marriage had produced rabid zealotry in Democratic ranks. This ideology, he argued, was excluding people of faith.“Today’s Democratic Party has become so radicalized for legalizing gay marriage in all 50 states that there is no longer any room for religious liberty,” he said.
The Texas lawmaker said this stance was against America’s traditional values. Religious liberty, Cruz claimed, was one of the nation’s founding principles. “We were founded by men and women fleeing religious persecution,” Cruz declared. “We need leaders who will stand unapologetically in defense of the Judeo-Christian values upon which America was built,” he concluded. [The Hill]
Assuming that Cruz is hitting near the mark, it's appropriate to inquire what is going on.

Nothing More Authoritarian Than Liberals
Not Just Jews
Christians Under Increasing Attack in Europe
By Austin RuseBreitbartLondon
27 February, 2015
Christian churches are under increasing assault all over Europe, reports a Vienna-based group charged with monitoring such attacks.
They report that Christian churches have been increasingly vandalized in Switzerland, Christian graves desecrated in France, and churches graffitied in Italy. Much of the vandalism comes at the hands of those opposing church teachings on homosexuality.Earlier this month, someone vandalized a Catholic Church in the Swiss Canon of Jura, two hours north of Geneva. The vandals wrote, “Jesus is Gay” and “Your Religion is Not Mine” along with satanic symbols on the outside of the church. Also this month, in the Calvados region of France, dozens of Christian symbols in a graveyard were vandalized.
The Observatory reports the Church of Saint John the Baptist in the Italian town of Lecce was spraypainted, “God is a transgender” and “Priests are pedophiles.” Other graffiti indicated that the attack was related to a recent pro-family conference held nearby.

One of
the things made apparent by the case of Baronelle Stutzman in Washington
State is that we are to be allowed our convictions about same-sex
mirage, but only if we can find a place to store them. You see all the
storage bins have been nationalized and are now public property, and so
all the contents have to conform the current policy of these United
States, which holds, among other things, that the anus is now a sex
organ. It follows from this that if you know it isn’t, having had
biology in high school, then these aberrant and blasphemous thoughts of
yours must never be expressed or even hinted at within a fifty foot
radius of anyone who might be offended. What if you said something about
this, and there were a drag queen nearby? Nothing worse than having a
drag queen clutch at her pearls.

The Turning of the Tide
It's Not Pretty
One of the Christian doctrines most offensive to modern Unbelief is the doctrine of sin--and in particular, original sin. If ever there was a truth which Unbelief rails against, this would be it. Yet it is a truth which is demonstrated before our eyes and in our experience every single day.
It is true that Unbelief has had its prophets who have insisted upon the universal depravity of humanity--such as Shakespeare, Faulkner, Steinbeck, Hemingway, Dostoevsky and Conrad. Whilst these have moved our Unbelieving generation it has not been towards the truth. Rather these prophets serve to galvanise to a greater effort of insisting upon man's perfectibility. Evil is external. It is circumstantial. Rarely is it acknowledged to be intrinsic to the heart of man.
C. E. M. Joad, writing in the early 1950's reflects on the antipathy of his generation to the doctrine of human depravity and how it was his generation that saw the turning of the tide into Unbelief.

Obama's Idolatry
Consistently Anti-Christian
President Obama has been accused of anti-Christian cant. It is a charge he defends. Clearly he has dabbled in "liberation theology"--which amounts to Marxism with a pseudo-Christian veneer. But was this just a passing phase?
One way of testing the claim is to document the actions of the Federal Government, for actions speak louder than words. It appears very consistent and a damaging litany. There is a prima-facie case to answer.
