Revelations of Convenience 

According to revelations Muhammad claimed to receive, a Muslim was "entitled" to four wives at a time, and no more.  Except Muhammad, of course, who had special dispensation from Allah to have as many as thirteen.  

To prevent jealousy (in his harem) he spent one night with each of them in turn.  One day it was his wife Hafsa's turn.  She was away visiting her father but then returned unexpectedly.  She was furious to find the Prophet in bed with Mary, the Coptic maid and concubine.  Hafsa reproached him bitterly, threatening to tell the other wives.  Muhammad promised to stay away from the hated Mary if she would keep quiet.  Hafsa, however, confided in Aisha, who also hated Mary.  [Vishal Mangalwadi, The Book That Made Your World: How the Bible Created the Soul of Western Civilization (Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson, 2011), p. 282.]

The scandal spread through the whole harem and Muhammad found himself ostracized.  But not to worry.

Islam has a problem with violence and warfare.  The "problem" lies here: warfare, violence, and oppression are found at the heart of the religion.

Before going further, we need to take stock of some strenuous efforts on the part of some who strive for an Islamic "Reformation" which, whilst acknowledging Islam's roots and past, would move to a modernised, pacific set of beliefs.  We might call it neo-Islam, or liberal Islam, or enlightened Islam.  People such as Ayaan Hirsi Ali have been so committed to this cause that she has lived her life in virtual hiding, under endless fatwa and death threats.  The threateners confirm the need of what Ali espouses--namely, that modern and moderate Islam must break away from the Islam's historical legacy of violence and bloodshed.

Terms like "reformation" can be deceptive; hence, the quotation marks.  The Protestant Reformation was an attempt to uncover and recover the original purity, the founding doctrines and praxis of the Christian faith.  The "reformation of Islam" means something entirely the opposite.  In this case, "reformation" means modern Islam breaking away from the doctrines and practice of the founders of Islam--namely, Muhammad and the four "rightly guided Caliphs".  In other words, the kind of reformation Ayaan Hirsi Ali wants to see is a modern Islam which has rejected all primitive, violent, and extreme doctrines and practices.

One of the most profound differences between the Christian faith and Islam has to do with the doctrine of perspicacity.  The Christian faith declares that God's revelation to His people is, at root, simple and clear.  The plough-boy can discover understand the core, essential messages of the Scriptures--on his own.

For Islam this is not so.  The believer has no hope of understanding or interpreting the Koran, the hadith, and Sharia without an imam, a teacher.  This explains why it is that what is being declared or taught at particular mosques by particular imams is so significant.  Islam is not a perspicacious faith: it is a hidden and complex religion in which there is no certainty, and no universal clarity.

Can one "get by" in Islam without being tied in to a particular mosque and teaching tradition?  Only if one is content to be nominally Islamic; the fervent believer needs a chosen teacher to make things clear.  Otherwise, all is fog.

A feature of contemporary Islam is its reflexive hatred of Jews.  Some prominent Islamic political  declare that the Holocaust never happened, or that it did happen and a good thing it was too.  Others get fulfilment by drawing maps of the Middle East, with Israel being emphatically erased off the map.  Still others call for the annihilation of Israel to be a central foreign policy plank and summon the umma to arms to achieve it.

The Left in the West, still addled with long-obsolete notions of Marxist class warfare, find themselves aligned with the Islamic cause because it represents the current "little guy" struggling against "big guy" Western imperialism.  The Left is increasingly showing its solidarity with Islamic ideology.  It increasingly espouses its own form of anti-semitism so as to stand with its Islamic brothers.  Elements in the UK Labour Party provide one example.  President Obama's genuflections and considerateness toward Islam provide another.

And on it goes.  But, why the hatred of Israel and the Jewish people in Islamic doctrine, rhetoric, and eschatology?  According to Efraim Karsh, anti-semitism has deep historical roots, stretching all the way back to Muhammad.

We recently caught up with an old Christian friend, born and raised in Pakistan.  He had been engaged in doctoral studies and was researching Islam--its theology, ideology, and praxis.  Of course, in his country this is a live topic.

Christians in Pakistan are a very small minority--often persecuted.  His objective was to demonstrate that such Islamic persecution was contrary to the fundamental tenets of Islam, a perversion of the Islamic faith.  If this argument could be sustained, he thought, it may well help ease some of the tensions between Islamic and Christian communities on the ground.  Thus his research began, but the more he studied Islam and its teachers, the more he began to doubt his starting point.  He came to the point where he realised that violent oppression and persecution of non-Islamic people by Islam was not an aberration of that religion, but essential to it.

It was so from the beginning of that religion.  Thus it has continued to this day.

Time to Unmask Muhammad

To know why Islam is a mortal danger one must not only consider the Koran but also the character of Muhammad, who conceived the Koran and the entirety of Islam.

The Koran is not just a book. Muslims believe that Allah himself wrote it and that it was dictated to Muhammad in the original version, the Umm al-Kitab, which is kept on a table in heaven. Consequently one cannot argue with the contents. Who would dare to disagree with what Allah himself has written? This explains much of Muhammadan behaviour, from the violence of jihad to the hatred and persecution of Jews, Christians and other non-Muslims and apostates. What we in the West regard as abnormal, is perfectly normal for Islam.

A second insuperable problem with Islam is the figure of Muhammad. He is not just anyone. He is al-insan al-kamil, the perfect man. To become a Muslim one must pronounce the Shahada (the Muslim creed). By pronouncing the Shahada one testifies that there is no god that can be worshipped except Allah, and one testifies that Muhammad is his servant and messenger.

The Koran, and hence Allah, lays down that Muhammad’s life must be imitated. The consequences of this are horrendous and can be witnessed on a daily basis.

There has been much analysis of Muhammad’s mental sanity. In spite of all the available research, it is rarely mentioned or debated. It is a taboo to discuss the true nature of the man whom one and a half billion Muslims around the world regard as a holy prophet and example to be followed. That taboo must be breached in the West, and here in the Netherlands.

Ali Sina is an Iranian ex-Muslim who established the organisation for apostates of Islam Faith Freedom International. In his latest book he posits that Muhammad is a narcissist, a pedophile, a mass murderer, a terrorist, a misogynist, a lecher, a cult leader, a madman, a rapist, a torturer, an assassin and a looter.  Sina has offered 50,000 dollars for the one who can prove otherwise. Nobody has claimed the reward as yet. And no wonder, as the description is based on the Islamic texts themselves, such as the hadiths, the descriptions of Muhammad’s life from testimonies of contemporaries.

The historical Muhammad was the savage leader of a gang of robbers from Medina. Without scruples they looted, raped and murdered. The sources describe orgies of savagery where hundreds of people’s throats were cut, hands and feet chopped off, eyes cut out, entire tribes massacred. An example is the extinction of the Jewish Kurayza tribe in Medina in 627. One of those who chopped off their heads was Muhammad. The women and children were sold as slaves. Confronted with the lunacy of Islamic terrorists today, it is not hard to find out where the lunacy comes from.


In Vienna the women’s rights activist Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff was recently sentenced to paying a fine for insulting a religion by calling Muhammad a pedophile. However, that is the truth. Numerous hadiths contain testimonies by Muhammad’s favorite wife, the child wife Aisha. Aisha literally says: “The prophet married me when I was six years old, and had intercourse with me when I was nine.”  According to the historian Theophanes (752-817) Muhammad was an epileptic. Epileptic crises are sometimes accompanied by hallucinations, perspiration form the forehead and foaming at the mouth, the very symptoms which Muhammad displayed during his visions.

In his book “The other Muhammad” (1992) the Flemish psychologist Dr. Herman Somers concludes that in his forties the “prophet” began to suffer from acromegaly, a condition caused by a tumor in the pituitary gland, a small organ that is situated just below the brain. When the tumor in the pituitary gland causes too much pressure in the brain, people start to see and hear things that are not there. Somers’s psychopathological diagnosis of Muhammad’s condition is: organic hallucinatory affliction with paranoid characteristics.

The German medical historian Armin Geus speaks of a paranoid hallucinatory schizophrenia. A similar analysis can be found in the book “The Medical Case of Muhammad” by the physician Dede Korkut.
In his book “Psychology of Mohammed: Inside the Brain of a Prophet” Dr. Masud Ansari calls Muhammad “the perfect personification of a psychopath in power.” Muhammad had a unhinged paranoid personality with an inferiority complex and megalomaniac tendencies. In his forties he starts having visions that led him to believe he had a cosmic mission, and that there was no stopping him.

The truth is not always pleasant or politically correct. On the basis of the research referred to above it can be argued that the Islamic creed obliges one and a half billion people around the world, including the one million living in the Netherlands, to take Muhammad as their example. There is no turning back once one has become a Muslim. For even though article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that every person has the right to “change his religion or belief,” in Islam there is a death penalty for leaving the faith.
Anyone who voices criticism of Islam and Muhammad is in grave personal danger – as I have experienced. And whoever attempts to escape from the influence of Islam and Muhammad risks death. We cannot continue to accept this state of affairs. A public debate about the true nature and character of Muhammad can provide insight and support to Muslims all over the world who wish to leave Islam.

Apostates are heroes and more than ever they deserve the support of freedom loving people all over the world. Party politics should not be at play in this matter. It is time for us to help these people by exposing Muhammad.
