A 47-year-old mother died weeks after a man who claimed to have the Chinese coronavirus spat and coughed at her while she was working at a railway station in London.

On March 22, Belly Mujinga, a railway ticket office worker, was assaulted alongside her colleague by a man while the two were on duty at London Victoria station. The two women fell ill with symptoms of the coronavirus days after the attack.

Describing the horrific attack, her husband, Lusamba Gode Katalay said per ITV: “The man asked her what she was doing, why she was there, and she said they were working. The man said he had the virus and spat on them. They reported it to their supervisor. Belly came home and told me everything.”

Mujinga was hospitalised on April 2 and was put on a ventilator, yet tragically died three days after being admitted to the hospital.

Many of us were disturbed by the murder of University of Mississippi undergraduate Ally Kostial last week. By all accounts, she was such a deeply kind and beautiful person. What could have possibly been the motivation to kill someone who radiated such powerful goodness?

This week, based on exclusive reporting from The Daily Mail, we learned the answer: Ally was pregnant with the child of the accused killer, a fellow undergraduate at Mississippi. He reportedly pressured her to have an abortion. She refused. So it appears he killed her and their prenatal child, in a reprehensible double murder.

For those who have qualms about using this term to describe his alleged action, recall the famous case in which Scott Peterson was charged with double murder by the state of California when he killed his wife Laci and their prenatal child Connor—who, horrifically, was found to have plastic around his neck and a slash to his body. Indeed, Scott Peterson sits on death row today only because the state of California rightly understands Connor to be a second murder victim.

Despite the high-profile nature of such cases, our culture is still not fully aware of the danger in which pregnant women find themselves—particularly in a patriarchal throwaway culture in which abortion is an expected means of permitting people to live their lives without the “burden” (or, as President Obama once put it, “punishment”) of a child.

Indeed, the double murder that killed Ally and her prenatal child is tragically typical example of how abortion rights have so grossly affected our culture—although you can be forgiven for not realizing this, given how poorly abortion is covered by most major media organizations.

One of the trained assassins wanted for poisoning Sergei Skripal is a decorated colonel in Russian military intelligence given the country's highest award by Vladimir Putin.  The real identity of one of the wanted men in the nerve agent attack - named by counter-terrorism police as Ruslan Boshirov - can be disclosed as Colonel Anatoliy Vladimirovich Chepiga.

The 39-year-old, who has served in wars in Chechnya and Ukraine, was made a Hero of the Russian Federation by decree of the President in 2014 in a ceremony shrouded in secrecy.

Forensic Evidence Can Give Certainty

Forensic science has made a huge difference to the administration of justice.  In cases of murder in particular it can be like the victim's blood crying out from the ground.  

In New Zealand we have had a particularly powerful example of forensics enabling a conviction beyond reasonable doubt.

Palmerston North pathologist Cynric Temple-Camp has detailed his involvement in what he described as the "bizarre and complicated" murder case, including patiently explaining to police what brain tissue looks like, in his soon to be released book The Cause of Death.  Lundy is serving a life sentence for the murder of his wife Christine and daughter Amber, 7, who were found bludgeoned to death in their Palmerston North home in August 2000.

Lundy was on a business trip at the time and has always maintained his innocence, but has twice been convicted of the murders - in 2002 and at a retrial in 2015. He has appealed his latest convictions, and the appeal will be heard in October.

While the Crown case against Lundy was largely circumstantial - and contentious after police initially said Lundy had made an incredibly fast and dangerous cross-country drive in the middle of the night to murder his family - a piece of tissue discovered on one of Lundy's shirts sealed his convictions. . . .

The two women invited to the Dirksen Senate Office Building a couple of  weeks ago seemed like the kind of expert witnesses any Democrat, especially a female Democrat, would love. Both have become respected academics, authors, and activists for women’s rights. Both are outspoken critics of religious extremism. Both are Muslims, and both are critical of Muslim extremism, but for way too many Democrats that point of view is not legitimate.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali was born in Somalia to a Muslim family. As a young girl she suffered genital mutilation. Her family and friends followed such an intense form of Islam that in her teens she cheerfully looked forward to the day when the fatwa against author Salman Rushdie would be carried out at last. When her family tried to force her into marriage, she fled Africa for the Netherlands.

There she met director Theo Van Gogh; together they made a film critical of extreme interpretations of Islam which sanction the abuse, degradation, even the killing of Muslim women. After the film was released, Van Gogh was murdered on a city street by a terrorist. Pinned to his clothes was a note declaring that Hirsi Ali would be next. Today, Ali is in the United States. She is a fellow at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. She is the author of two best-sellers, Heretic and Infidel. And she has renounced her Muslim faith. Because of all these factors, her life is in constant danger.

The other witness was Asra Nomani, a writer and activist for equal rights for women in Islam.

In this country, as in all countries we suppose, horrible murders have been committed.  One of the most horrible in recent times has been the wilful murder of a three year old boy, Moko.  It was a murder perpetrated by his two "care-givers".  

Inexplicably it seems, the Crown allowed the accused to plea bargain down to a conviction of manslaughter.

The fog of war still swirls around the Orlando shooting, but the murderer of fifty or so people appears to be Islamic, who had attended a homosexual bar, either to "case the joint" or to participate in the bar's social life, or something else.

But once again it begs the question of how Islamic people can so easily be radicalised and commit murder.  What is it about the faith of Islam that makes it the most violent and murderous religion upon the planet by a long, long shot?

Reading the Koran provides some clues.  We offer a possible explanation.  On virtually every page of the Koran the reader is threatened with references to Hell, hellfire, judgment, and curse.  Allah is a minatory deity.  The key reason to persuade people to believe and follow Islam is to avoid the judgement of Allah for their sins.  These precepts are repetitive and pervasive throughout the Koran.  Pick any chapter.  Here is one chosen at random:

Hell will lie in ambush, a home for the transgressors.  There they shall abide long ages; there they shall taste neither refreshment nor any drink, save boiling water and decaying filth: a fitting recompense. [The Tidings]

 But at the same time there are repeated references to Allah being both compassionate and merciful.

Here is the question: to whom is Allah compassionate and merciful?

A Dying Industry Bleeding Out

Abortion is one of those horrific practices that mean just a few abortions a year are too many.  One abortion a year is too many.  Sacrificing an innocent child for the convenience of its mother or society is reprehensible.  It is a great moral evil.  

But there is no magic switch to transform societies instantly.  Society is made up of millions of hearts and minds.  It is made up of habits, traditions, and institutions which give power, influence and presence to beliefs.  The ultimate beliefs of a society are inevitably enshrined in law codes and practice.  Therefore, to drive abortion out from society, which is our goal, takes time.  It also takes effort on a wide diversity of levels.  It requires that we live with evil for a time whilst the life is choked out of it--metaphorically speaking.  (Our opponents, of course--the pro-aborts--advocate and practise literal murder, literally cutting and choking life out of human beings.)

In the United States there is a growing conviction that abortion is a great evil.  The cause is capturing hearts and minds.  Abortion is a shrinking industry.  Let's hope that what is seen in the United States becomes the harbinger of doom for the abominable practice throughout the West.

Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) militants raped four women and then stoned them for adultery in Mosul, Iraq.
“The four victims were arrested earlier on [W]ednesday in a raid by ISIS jihadis,” stated Raafat Zarari, spokesman of the Nineveh Media Center. “The jihadis claimed to have captured the women while committing adultery.”

A Sharia court operated by the Islamic State sentenced the women to death.  “The four women were stoned to death on Thursday in front of a large crowd of people in central Mosul,” continued Zarari.  The sentence did not mention the men who raped the women, who, it can be assumed also committed “adultery” if they were married when the rape took place.  “The four women were most likely exposed to sexual abuse at the hands of ISIS militants before being driven out of their homes and transferred to the Sharia Court,” explained activist Abdullah al-Malla.

He added:

The statement of the Sharia Court regarding the case of those four women has avoided mentioning the men who have been involved in the alleged adultery. Apparently, the victims have been raped by ISIS jihadis and then stoned to death on charges of committing adultery.

The Islamic State has a history of stoning rape victims or anyone who allegedly commits adultery.

The Islamic State has reportedly issued a fatwa ordering the elimination of children with Down syndrome and other congenital disabilities, reminiscent of Hitler’s infamous “Aktion T4” program, which administered forced “euthanasia” on an estimated 300,000 disabled persons.

According to the Iraqi activist blog Mosul Eye, sharia judges have ruled that ISIS followers are authorized to kill infants with Down Syndrome or congenital deformities. Already since the religious decree (fatwa) was issued, militants have killed at least 38 children between one week and three months old by lethal injection or suffocation.

Normal discourse has resumed following the lawless shooting and murders perpetrated in a Planned Parenthood office in Colorado.  All that incendiary rhetoric by anti-abortion fanatics has allegedly driven a man to do evil things.  Anti-abortion advocates are ultimately responsible.

We will cite entertainer Bette Midler as representative of this kind of inane discourse:

“Thanks to overheated screeds spewing from the mouths of the GOP, and in Congress, innocent people have died in CO, including a policeman,” Midler wrote.

All heat and no light.

A more serious analysis of the murders that occurred at the Planned Parenthood venue would run something like this.  Those who oppose abortion and advocate against it, want to see it outlawed in all forms.  They ground their arguments on the principle that abortion is a murderous act.  It always involves killing another human being.

Therefore, the anti-abortionist has principled, conscientious grounds strenuously and vehemently to condemn the murders committed by the Planned Parenthood shooter.  Murder is murder is murder.

A terrible crime has been committed in Sydney.  An Iraqi-Kurdish teenager has shot a man in a cold-blooded murder.

Such things are horrendous--and in our view, require the death penalty--which was duly administered in the course of the fracas.  Police officers returned fire and the teen was killed.  One aspect of the crime and its aftermath is particularly pleasing.  It is salutary the way Australian authorities have not tried to cover over or sanitise evil with politically correct saccharin.

They have stared evil in the face and they have called it for what it is.

In the latest video produced by the Center for Medical Progress, Holly O’Donnell describes a medical technician using scissors to cut through the face of a newly aborted but nearly fully developed baby boy at a Planned Parenthood facility so that his intact brain could be extracted.

O’Donnell says that the technician could also make the boy’s heart beat.

Planned Parenthood is working hard to counter the steady drip of damning videos produced by the Center for Medical Progress, but not even the highest priced Washington, D.C. flacks are likely to be able to erase the thought picture of someone cutting through a child’s face with scissors.

Holly O’Donnell and her Planned Parenthood colleague were harvesting organs that day at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, a mega-clinic in San Jose, California that has an annual budget of $100 million or 10 percent of the national organization.

O’Donnell, who turned whistleblower after leaving StemExpress, said the child was the most fully developed she had seen up to that point. She describes in great detail how the newly aborted boy was rinsed off and prepared for dissection.

And here we are again. You might recognize this place. We’ve been here frequently over the past, say, 1,500 years or so. It’s the place where the whole world stands in dumbfounded shock after witnessing unspeakable brutality at the hands of Islamists. Maybe we should stop being so surprised.

This time around, three masked gunmen stormed the offices of a French satirical newspaper, executing 12 people in cold blood, including two police officers. This is the same newspaper that infamously published a cartoon poking fun at the Prophet Mohammed a few years ago, and was promptly greeted with death threats and a Molotov cocktail for their troubles. In fairness, there’s still a lot we don’t know about this attack, but it seems very certain that this was another case of Muslim terrorism. The gunmen took out 12 people while shouting “Allahu Akbhar” and “the Prophet has been avenged.” All of this over some jokes in a magazine.

Can you imagine Christian radicals committing mass murder at The Onion offices because they’re upset about something they found on its website? Can you even fathom such a thing? Probably not, because it never happens. It just never happens. And it’s not like Christians don’t have plenty of provocation. I still remember stumbling upon this lovely little gem from The Onion last year. It’s a hysterical article imagining that Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, became a prostitute to make ends meet. Haha?

This is the kind of thing Christians encounter all the time. Brutal mocking and ridicule dressed up as “humor,” but designed only to offend. There’s no wit, no punchline, just scorn heaped upon people of my faith. Kind of like this “Family Guy” episode, featuring an adulterous Jesus looking to have sex with a man’s wife. Or that hilarious “Curb Your Enthusiasm” episode a few years back where Larry David peed on a picture of Jesus. Or of course the famous “Piss Christ,” a crucifix dunked in a bottle of urine and passed off as art. Or the painting of the Virgin Mary smeared in elephant dung. Or “Dogma.” Or “The Da Vinci Code.” Or a thousand other examples.

Yet nobody ever died because of any of that.

We have profiled the case of Dr Kermit Gosnell, the doctor convicted of murdering babies of the poor.  The media pretty much ignored the story because it would have brought disrepute to the noble trade of abortion.  A "woman's right to choose" is not to be impugned by a few murdered babies.  In all struggles, collateral damage occurs.  Nothing to see here.  Move along.

But word did get out.  The alternative media did a stirling job.  Those who care about such things all know the name Kermit Gosnell now--what he did, and what he represents.

We Will Never Surrender

We have posted recently on "slippery slope" arguments (here, and here).  One of the points made by Jonah Goldberg about slippery slope arguments is that they discount the human factor, where people rise up to say "enough" and the slippery slope becomes less slippery.

Here is an example of what he means.  The slippery slope in this case is abortion and its increasing availability by chemical means.  Take the pill, kill your baby.  In a terrible case in the United States a "boyfriend" tricked his pregnant "girlfriend" into taking an abortifacient drug, causing the death of the infant.  The slippery slope argument would reasonably predict that as a result of such drugs an inevitable situation is arising where abortion will be as widespread and common as drinking a glass of water.

Schizophrenia is no less schizophrenia if one of the voices happens to be talking sense. Hard schizophrenia is no less difficult if murderous insanity is linked up tight with weird, pathetic, and arbitrary scruples. In fact, if such an arbitary pattern is applied long enough, one may detect a method in the madness.

I am talking about our erratic public policy when it comes to protecting human life. Gosnell is a disgrace because he killed babies in this spot instead of the officially-approved that spot. As one observer noted, he is apparently being charged with murder because he enjoyed himself and because his place was dirty. If he had only kept his slaughter hygienic and had been snipping spinal columns for the sake of the Constitution, instead of doing it for his own jollies, and had done his work before that magic and metaphysical week after which responsible medical professionals cease dismembering their clients' babies, he could have served as a witness for his own prosecution.

In the meantime, the kidnapper of three women in Cleveland is facing murder charges for brutally causing a miscarriage, and for doing so without a medical degree.

In Philadelphia, at a human abattoir on Lancaster Avenue, is where it ends, not where it starts. It starts with the perversion of language. It starts when the icons of a dissipated culture reduce a baby to a “fetus.” From there, Yeats’s blood-dimmed tide rolls rapidly in. Before long, a baby is not a person but a punishment, as President Barack Obama framed the matter in his familiar off-the-cuff iciness.

Of course, to describe newborn children in their boundless possibilities and wonder would be to acknowledge, foremost, their humanity. That is why, instead, abortion enthusiasts must grope for words when circumstances force them to speak publicly about their gruesome business.
