A Silly, Pompous Man

Dumb and Dumber

This is appalling. We have lived in this country all our lives and we have never before come across something as egregious as Shane Jones (MP) attempting to develop an argument against Indian immigrants on explicitly racial grounds.  It is racism as pure and undiluted as could be imagined.

The Minister for Racism Ignores Ardern

Newshub reports:
RNZ reported earlier on Tuesday that despite Ardern saying his language was “loose” and “wrong”, Jones was unrepentant and didn’t believe most people would consider the comments racist.

“I challenge anyone in New Zealand to disagree with me in terms of the sad regularity with which we are seeing egregious cases of abuse, in the media, coming from the Indian migrant community upon their own. In fact, they’re appearing in courts with more regularity than the Mongrel Mob.

Kiwiblog writes:

So Jones says some racist stuff which Ardern refuses to take action against, apart from she’ll ask him to reconsider his words.  His response is basically a two fingered salute as he doubles down and says even more racist stuff.

He is clearly implying that Indians in New Zealand are not very law abiding, comparing them to the Mongrel Mob.  In fact crime stats for 2019 show that overall Indians appear in court, as a proportion of their total population far less than most ethnic groups. The proportions are:

Maori 5.4%
Pasifika 2.1%
European 1.0%
Indian 0.8%
Asian 0.2%

So 992 out of 1,000 Indians have not appeared in court yet Jones compares them to the Mongrel Mob.

But of course once again Jacinda will do nothing except wring her hands. God forbid she actually act like she is the Prime Minister and say something along the lines of:
“There is no room in my Cabinet for a Minister who denigrates entire ethnic communities to score political points. I have informed Minister Jones that if he makes such a comment again, I will immediately dismiss him as a Minister”
It is Shane Jones who is outing himself as "Dumb and Dumber".

Raaaaacism in the UK

Laurence Fox and the Woke McCarthyists

Disagree with the cultural elites and they will try to destroy you.

Brendan O'Neill
Spiked

The ongoing fallout from Laurence Fox’s appearance on Question Time last Thursday is nothing short of staggering. It confirms, in a chilling way, how intolerant the cultural elites have become and how viciously they will pounce on anyone who deviates from their political and moral script. Actors, singers, artists and the rest of us, too, have been put on notice: ‘Disagree with us, the righteous woke people, and you will be destroyed.’

Fox, an actor and singer-songwriter, is now essentially a speechcriminal. Members of the actors’ union Equity have effectively called for him to be blacklisted, like PC incarnations of Joe McCarthy. Leading journalists have denounced him as ‘far right’ even though he said not one single thing that could be deemed ‘far right’. But then, the ‘far right’ insult is rarely intended to be accurate these days. Instead, it is a means of marking someone out as evil, as disobedient, as too questioning of correct-thought as defined by PC elites. Calling Fox ‘far right’ is another species of blacklisting, the foul intention being to discourage producers from ever employing him again.

And what, precisely, were Fox’s speechcrimes? This is where it gets genuinely scary. Everything he said on QT was perfectly reasonable. Great numbers of people will have been cheering him on. He said he was bored of the idea that the media criticism of Meghan Markle is driven by racism. He questioned the idea that the next Labour leader should be chosen on the basis of sex and said instead that we should judge politicians by their beliefs and achievements. He mocked celebs for lecturing everyone about climate change. He pushed back against an audience member who suggested he enjoyed white privilege, pointing out that it wasn’t him, Fox, who mentioned people’s skin colour, but them, his voluble detractors.

Not only is this not far right – it is also sensible and refreshing.

From the Sublime to the Utterly Ridiculous

Top Newsreader Alastair Stewart Fired for Quoting ‘Racist’ Shakespeare

James Delingpole
Breitbart London

One of Britain’s most popular and respected newsreaders has been sacked after using on Twitter a Shakespeare quotation that a black activist complained was ‘racist’.  Alastair Stewart, who had been a newsreader at Independent Television News (ITN) for 40 years, was engaged in a Twitter debate with a vexatious nonentity called Martin Shapland, a former Liberal Democrat activist of no known distinction.

Stewart responded to one of Shapland’s sallies with a quotation from Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure:

But man, proud man,
Drest in a little brief authority
Most ignorant of what he’s most assur’d;
His glassy essence, like an angry ape,
Plays such fantastic tricks before high heaven,
As make the angels weep.

Shapland seized the opportunity take offence, brand Stewart’s tweet ‘racist’ – and get the newsreader sacked.  ITN claimed that Stewart was stepping down following ‘errors of judgement in Alastair’s use of social media which breached ITN’s editorial guidelines.’

But this has been widely seen as a massive overreaction – especially since it has emerged that Shapland is a professional malcontent with a track record of tweeting race-baiting remarks of a far more offensive nature than Stewart’s innocuous Shakespeare quotation.
