When a culture turns away from the Lord and giver of Life, it ends up championing death. The transformation is normally not immediate, but gradual. Nevertheless, it is ineluctable. The particular manifestation of death-devotion can vary. As Germany transformed from a Christian nation to a champion of Enlightenment rationalism and idealism, it eventually elected a government which went on to exterminate six million Jews and millions of Gentiles--all in the name of the Volk and its superior "life".
The West generally has championed death through a perverse celebration of human rights.
It has become a "human right" to dismember and kill the unborn child. In the West our love of death leads us to champion the murder of the innocent as a noble, ethical, and enlightened thing to do. Killing the innocent has become framed as a good thing, one of the highest principles of advanced civilization--so we are told.
Rebellion against God results in the institutionalisation of depravity within a culture--thus, death becomes a cause celebre. But this love of death as the reflex of despising God is manifested in other ways. It is now a public evil to have more than two children in the UK. The Beckhams, for example, are being publically excoriated for their death dealing behaviours. How have they brought death, you ask? By having four children!

David and Victoria Beckham may have been overjoyed to welcome their new daughter, Harper Seven, last week but, according to a growing group of campaigners, the birth of their fourth child make the couple bad role models and environmentally irresponsible. As the world's population is due to hit seven billion at some point in the next few days, there is an increasing call for the UK to open a public debate about how many children people have.The Commentariat is seething. Why? Because the world is a dying world. The more mouths to feed, the more death and destruction upon "Nature" we wreak. Therefore, children--instead of being seen as the very manifestation and essence of life itself--are reframed as an implicit instrument of death.
It is a view that is being pushed by the UK-based Optimum Population Trust, whose chief executive, Simon Ross says. . . . "The Beckhams, and others like London mayor Boris Johnson, are very bad role models with their large families. There's no point in people trying to reduce their carbon emissions and then increasing them 100% by having another child," he said. "England is one of the most densely populated countries in the world and the fastest-growing in population terms in Europe. In 15 years we'll have an extra 10 million people here."People are killing us. So let's construct a society that is anti-human. An anti-human society is one which champions death and non-living and non-existence for the sake of a greater "good".

Boston Globe columnist Jeff Jacoby sees this latest finger-wagging -- including, ominously, scorn from a Member of Parliament -- as just the latest in a string of baseless warnings about overpopulation. Here's Jacoby's rebuttal:
Yes, more babies mean more mouths and therefore more consumption. But more babies also mean more minds and arms and spines - and therefore more new ideas, more effort, more creativity, more initiative, more enterprise. “Human beings do not just consume, they also produce,’’ writes George Mason University economist Bryan Caplan. “The world economy is not like a party where everyone splits a birthday cake; it is more like a potluck where everyone brings a dish.’’The evidence is obvious. Are we better off today than we were 100 years ago, and 100 years before that? And than we were 2,000 years ago? Obviously.
The advances in health and knowledge have not come from outside agents -- crocodiles and aliens haven't invented penicillin or the lightbulb -- but from the very human beings that population-scolds from Malthus to Ehrlich to Friedman tell us are killing the planet.
