Another Warmist Slur Exposed

Sceptical Science is Alive and Well

An oft-heard slur against those scientists opposed to global warming propaganda is that opponents are bad scientists. The "evidence" offered for this is two fold: firstly, all sceptics are in the pocket of "big oil" and their opposition represents nothing more than a prostitution of science to self-interested money.

The second "evidence" of sceptics being second rate science-hacks is that academic journals will not publish sceptical papers. And the reason they don't, we are told, is that sceptics cannot get their scientific papers through the peer review process. In other words, their papers are full of errors and specious research.

With respect to the first slur--the suborning of craven scientists to the money of big oil--it is just not true. If it were reasonable to claim that sceptical scientists to the last person are all in the pay of "big oil" it would be equally reasonable to assert that warmist scientists are in the pay of governments, UN Committees and Non Governmental Organisations and Eco-groups. The reality is that the amount of money being paid over to fund warmist research dwarfs any which has come from the private business sector to fund sceptical research. So, what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander so to speak. Warmists need to take the log out of their own eye before they worry about the speck in the eye of their opponents.

With respect to the second slur--the lack of peer reviewed science papers able to get published by sceptical scientists--the Climategate letters go a long way to explain why that might be the case--given the conspiracy on a part of a few leading and very influential climate scientists to control both peer review and publication.

However, it turns out that the charge that the science of sceptics is so bad that they cannot get peer reviewed science papers published is just plain hokum. It is one more instance of warmist propaganda, fed ceaselessly to a credulous media. You will all be pleased to know that a blogsite exists which lists science papers which have been published which all reflect scepticism over warmist propaganda and the alleged science which lies underneath it. The name of the site is Popular Technology.net.

The list consists of over five hundred published articles and papers, all peer reviewed. The list is being added to all the time. Another warmist slur bites the dust. It is gratifying to see that non-propagandised science is alive and well.
