The War Against Trans-genderism

The End of  Beginning?

When the Allies defeated Rommel's forces in North Africa, it prompted Churchill to observe:
"Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."  A similar observation could be made with respect to transgenderism.  No doubt the ideological and spiritual war will continue to rage, but it is possible that we have won the initial skirmishes.  We may have come to the end of the beginning.

The US Federal government via the Justice Department is apparently going to insist upon biology when deciding upon the gender of a human being.  Now we know that this is absolutely radical stuff.  Who would have thought that the Justice Department would be that extreme.  Former President Obama's trans-genderist ideology appears about to face the equivalent of a Tobruk breakout.  And if so, may that be the "end of the beginning".

Feds Draft Plan to Discard Obama’s Transgender Ideology

President Donald Trump’s Justice Department will soon decide if agencies must follow biology when they document the legal sex of American women and girls, men and boys, according to a document leaked to the New York Times

The policy would protect Americans’ civil rights from the transgender ideology which insists that everyone has an FBI-enforced federal right to switch their legal sex — regardless of their biology — when entering sports competitions, K-12 bathrooms, hospitals, gym showers, the military, or single-sex civic society groups.  This transgender ideology was promoted in 2016 by former President Barack Obama and is being imposed by many federal and state judges, despite visceral public opposition and scientists’ criticism.
This FBI-enforced-federal-right was and remains a wave of the wand by former President Obama.  It was a human rights matter, he loftily declared.  The coruscating, brilliant President Obama determined from on high that human will and wish must be recognized as the highest, most absolute authorities when it came to questions of human rights.  Whatever one wanted was an automatic, de jure human right.

If this sounds mad, you would be right. Nevertheless, it is pure Obamianism, and as Shakespeare would have put it, "President Obama has said that human volitional choices are de facto human rights, and the President is an honourable man."  But we digress.

The New York Times reported:

Now the Department of Health and Human Services is spearheading an effort to establish a legal definition of sex under Title IX, the federal civil rights law that bans gender discrimination in education programs that receive government financial assistance, according to a memo obtained by The New York Times.

The department argued in its memo that key government agencies needed to adopt an explicit and uniform definition of gender as determined “on a biological basis that is clear, grounded in science, objective and administrable.” The agency’s proposed definition would define sex as either male or female, unchangeable, and determined by the genitals that a person is born with, according to a draft reviewed by The Times. Any dispute about one’s sex would have to be clarified using genetic testing.

“Sex means a person’s status as male or female based on immutable biological traits identifiable by or before birth,” the department proposed in the memo, which was drafted and has been circulating since last spring. “The sex listed on a person’s birth certificate, as originally issued, shall constitute definitive proof of a person’s sex unless rebutted by reliable genetic evidence.”
Now this is not coming out of a desert dust storm.  Attorney General Jeff  Sessions has been working away at this for some time.  His intent and progress must be giving the Obamians within the Justice Department conniptions.  It is hard to believe that the Attorney General would actually want to roll back such a great leap forward.  But so it seems.  Measures have already been taken.

In 2017, Sessions’ department discarded Obama’s transgender policy statements. At the request of women prisoners, Sessions has also ended Obama’s support for mixed-sex prisons in early 2018. Also, the Pentagon has already announced it will use biology as a “bright line” when documenting the sex of a potential recruit.

The retribution has been swift.  Sessions's move has been "framed" as an "act of violence".

Progressives are incensed at the new science-based policy and have scheduled protests in New York and Washington D.C. For example, Eric Klinenberg, a sociologist at New York University, described the policy as an “act of violence.”

The next act of violence from the Trump administration is a policy that, as ⁦@CatherineLhamon⁩ puts it, “quite simply negates the humanity of people.” https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/21/us/politics/transgender-trump-administration-sex-definition.html?smprod=nytcore-ipad&smid=nytcore-ipad-share

We do not mean to imply that the war is over.  Churchill was both measured and particular when he cautioned against triumphalism or exaggerating the significance of Rommel's defeat.  "Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."   So may it be said with respect to trans-genderism and will-based human identity rights.

Despite the growing damage to young people — including people who change their views and wish to embrace their sex —  the gender ideology is rapidly gaining power, aided by huge donations from wealthy individuals and medical companies. In Ohio, for example, in February, a judge forced parents of a teenage girl to give up custody so she can begin a lifetime of drug treatments and surgery that will allow her to appear as a male.

The progressive push to bend Americans’ attitudes and their male-and-female civic society around the idea of “gender identity” has already attacked and cracked many of the popular social rules which help Americans manage the cooperation and competition among and between complementary, different and equal men and women.

These pro-gender claims have an impact on different-sex bathrooms, shelters for battered women, sports leagues for girls, hiking groups for boys, K-12 curricula, university speech codes, religious freedoms, free speech, the social status of women, parents’ rights in childrearing, practices to help teenagers, health outcomes, women’s expectations of beauty, culture and civic society, scientific research, prison safety, civic ceremonies, school rules, men’s sense of masculinity, law enforcement, military culture, and children’s sexual privacy.
Let's hope that the opening of a sustained campaign against transgenderist deceit has indeed come.  Let's hope it is indeed the end of the beginning of the battle.  But there are long marches ahead.  In the meantime, we are thankful for the work of Jeff Sessions and his colleagues in the Justice Department.  In this matter, may it please God to strengthen their arms--and ours.
