Bigger Than Texas

Hypocrisy On Steroids

At last--there is going to be some serious opposition to "conversion therapy" in New Zealand.  The idea that one can change one's sexual orientation back to its genetic constructs must be outlawed.  Young Labour and Young Greens are joining together to push the government to make the practice verboten.

We find ourselves in substantial agreement with these young warriors.  There is one problem, though.  They ooze with special pleading, which is a polite way of saying they appear to be rampant hypocrites.
Young Labour and the Young Greens are throwing their weight behind calls for the government to ban gay conversion therapy.   Thousands of people marched in Auckland's Pride Parade in February this year.  The two youth wings say the practice is unethical and inhumane and they have teamed up to launch a petition today urging Parliament to outlaw it.

Conversion therapies can include any form of treatment or psychotherapy that aims to change a person's sexual orientation, eliminate or suppress same-sex attraction.  [RadioNZ]
Trans-genderism is presently the most invasive and damaging form of "conversion therapy" known to mankind.
It requires not just lifestyle changes.  It mandates hugely invasive and forceful "therapies" including drugs, hormone "treatment" and surgery.  The suffering of the trans community under these kinds of treatments is legendary; suicide rates amongst trans folk are comparatively way off the scale.  Yet the hypocritical tyros waging war against "conversion therapy" for some reason fail to mention the worst manifestation of what they purport to hate.  Why would this be, we wonder?
Young Greens co-convenor Max Tweedie said these sorts of therapies did not work and could cause more harm than good.  "You can't treat homosexuality or bisexuality or other sexual orientations that aren't heterosexuality. Trying to change them using these therapies is actually just damaging to people's mental health," Mr Tweedie said.
Ah, now we get to the rub of the green.  Therapy is completely verboten unless it is intervention to move people away from heterosexuality.  The worst and most extreme kinds of conversions are perfectly OK, kind, rational, and justified in that case.  Sauce for the goose, but not for the gander.

Hypocrisy on a grand scale.  Bigger than Texas.
