European Fundamentalism

See No Evil, Hear No Evil

One of the most disturbing consequences of large numbers of  (mainly Islamic) migrants into the UK and Europe has been the willing complicity of authorities in covering up migrant crime.  We have seen, for example, the Rotherham Syndrome in the UK, where civil authorities (police, health authorities, and city council employees and officials) turned a blind eye to the systematic sexual exploitation of young girls by gangs of immigrant (mainly Pakistani) men.

If you are unaware of this travesty, a quick Google search on "Rotherham" will bring you up to speed, as will Wikipedia.

The apologia offered for ignoring the criminal activity was to plead fear--fear that committing police and community resources to identifying, detecting, punishing, and stamping out these horrific crimes would lead to charges of racism being made against the authorities.  The stifling effect of PC censorship meant that whilst plenty of officials knew what was going on, they turned Nelson's patched eye toward it.

It has now come out that this problem was not isolated to a rogue city in the UK.  In fact, authorities across the European Union have been systematically covering up migrant crime, particularly sexual crime.  Islamic men have been preying upon European women and the authorities have been keeping it quiet.

This has produced some bizarre, unexpected outcomes.
Russia, hardly a paragon of virtue, has been expressing anger at the alleged rape of a 13 year old Russian girl by alleged migrant men on January 11th.
The Russian foreign minister has become involved in an unusual democratic spat with Germany over the alleged cover-up of the gang rape of a 13 year old Russian citizen in Germany by “Arab-looking men”.  German police have claimed the disappearance by the 13 year old daughter of a Russian migrant family for 30 hours on January 11th, and her use as a “sex slave” by a trio of Arab men had been consensual, and no kidnap or rape had been involved.  Russia disputes this version of events, with Russian media reporting the girl had been taken from her family and passed around the three men for hours on end.

Sex with a 13 year old girl, whether consensual or not, is a crime in Germany, yet there have not yet been any arrests.

The persistence of reports in the Russian media about the case has now led the Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov to become involved, accusing Germany of papering over the cracks and covering up her rape.  Speaking at a press conference yesterday morning, Mr. Lavrov said of the young girl who has only been identified as ‘Lisa F.’, that she had “clearly not voluntarily disappeared for 30 hours”.  Mr. Lavrov said the German authorities had in the past shown a tendency to “paint over the reality of domestic politics for reasons of political correctness”.  [Emphasis, ours]

The story, coming so soon after the mass sex assault and rape of European women by migrant males in Cologne and other German cities at New Year, and multiple molestations and rapes at swimming baths has excited Germany’s sizeable Russian migrant community.   Thousands of Russian-German citizens rallied at the weekend in German cities, including a demonstration of 700 in Berlin outside the Chancellery, declaring solidarity with the girl and carrying banners declaring “stay away from our children”.

The news story and alleged coverup is threatening to develop into a major diplomatic incident, after Mr. Lavrov’s involvement and a German lawyer filing charges against Russian state television. He accuses a journalist of the channel of making unproven assertions by reporting Germany is suffering from mass migrant rape, reports Der Spiegel.  [Breitbart London]
But the burden of proof that the German police are not involved in a cover-up in this matter now lies firmly and heavily on the shoulders of the German authorities.  It is obvious they have form in the matter.  As do other European nations.  Ivar Arpi, writing in The Spectator, reviews what has been coming to the fore in recent days, giving reason to believe the Rotherham Syndrome could well be Europe wide:
It took days for police to acknowledge the extent of the mass attacks on women celebrating New Year’s Eve in Cologne. The Germans were lucky; in Sweden, similar attacks have been taking place for more than a year and the authorities are still playing catch up. Only now is the truth emerging, both about the attacks and the cover-ups. Stefan Löfven, our Prime Minister, has denounced a ‘double betrayal’ of women and has promised an investigation. But he ought to be asking this: what made the police and even journalists cover up the truth?

The answer can be discovered in the reaction to the Cologne attacks. Sweden prides itself on its sexual equality and has even pioneered a feminist foreign policy. When hundreds of women were reported to have been molested and abused in Cologne — at the hands of an organised mob — the reaction from Swedish politicians and pundits ought to have been one of outrage.

Instead, we were told that the events in Cologne were not unusual. An article in Aftonbladet, Sweden’s largest tabloid, argued that it was racist to point out that the perpetrators in Cologne had been described as North African or Arab, since German men had carried out sexual assaults during Bavaria’s Oktober-fest. Another Aftonbladet article said that reporting on the Cologne attacks was bowing to right-wing extremism. Over the last week, we have been told over and over that the real issue is men, not any particular culture — that Swedish men are no better.

Then last week Sweden’s own stories began to emerge. During the We Are Sthlm music festival, large groups of young men harassed girls sexually. It began in 2014 and it also went on during last year’s festival. According to internal police reports the groups were ‘so-called refugee youths primarily from Afghanistan’. The youngest of the victims was 12 years old.

The police claimed that there were ‘relatively few crimes and arrests considering the number of participants’. Internal reports told a different story. The police were shocked enough by the harassment to try to come up with a strategy to handle the groups of molesters at the festival — a strategy that was evidently unsuccessful. The trouble was that they were trying to deal with a problem but would not speak its name. As Peter Ågren, police chief in central Stockholm, put it: ‘Sometimes we do not dare to say how things really are because we believe it will play into the hands of the Sweden Democrats.’ As we now know, police officers in Stockholm are instructed not to reveal the ethnicity or nationality of any suspects lest they be accused of racism.
In 1996, Daniel Goldhagen wrote a provocative book entitled, Hitler's Willing Executioners: Ordinary Germans and the Holocaust [New York: Alfred A. Knopf, Inc] in which he argued that the German people knew full well that the Ultimate Solution was occurring in Nazi Germany: they just chose not to address it and face up to it.  It was a controversial thesis, and remains so to this day.

Now, however, it appears as though a permutation of his thesis is occurring in Europe over migrant crime.  In this case it is the authorities who are covering up incidents of migrant crime, especially sexual crime, lest they be charged with racism or Islamophbia--and not just authorities, but the media and the Chattering Classes are complicit throughout Europe.

What is it about Europe and the UK that makes them so easily seduced into denials of reality and Goldhagen-like coverups?  For out money, it illustrates the powerful hold of secular humanism in Europe, which now has all the characteristics of a fundamentalist religion.  To parse Goldhagen's title, it as resulted in making European authorities into Islam's Willing Criminal Facilitators.
