History Repeating

Hearing And Seeing No Evil Facilitates It

A new Islamic State propaganda video has appeared in which Islamic believers in Germany are urged either to decamp and migrate to fight for ISIS in Syria, or otherwise commit murders in Germany.  This is now a fairly standard Islamic State MO, but apparently the first addressed specifically to Germany.

Oliver Lane, writing for Breitbart London, reports
Calling on Muslims to become ‘lone wolf’ killers Mohamed Mahmoud, who was jailed for four years for terrorism offences in Germany but escaped to the Islamic world says: “My brothers and sisters, either you come here and join the Mujahideen, or you lead the jihad in Germany and Austria. You do not need much, just take a large knife and kill every unbeliever. They are like dogs!”.
Whether anyone in Germany will answer to the call remains to be seen.  But when such calls have been made, it has resulted in murder elsewhere in Europe.  What is absolutely staggering, however, is how the European authorities deliberately turn a blind eye to the terrorist or Islamic connections.

Islamic State spokesman Abu Mohammed al Adnani called on true believers to kill Westerners last year, specifically suggesting “run [disbelievers] over with your car”, an order he again repeated this year. There have been a spate of such ‘Lee Rigby style’ car attacks across Europe since, which authorities rushed to deny had any link to Islam.

In June, a devout Muslim drove his Sports Utility Vehicle at speeds approaching 90 miles an hour around the main shopping streets of Graz, Vienna. Trying to hit as many people as he could manage, he eventually killed three and injured 34 before his car finally came to a rest. At that point, he got out of the vehicle and set upon his victims with a “large knife”.

There was also a spate of identical attacks in France at Christmas last year. In Dijon, a man screaming “Allahu Akbar” and “for the children of Palestine!” repeatedly drove his car into groups of people on the pavement, in a attack that continued for 30 minutes before he was apprehended. One of the victims was just eleven years old – yet baffled French police refused to be drawn on whether it constituted an act of terrorism.

The next day it happened again, this time at a Christmas market in Nantes A van driven by a man shouting “Allahu Akbar” drove through crowds and rammed a stall serving mulled wine before the driver attempted to stab himself to death. Again, French police ruled out the possibility of terrorism, calling it an “isolated incident” perpetrated by a man with mental issues.
One is reminded yet again of the eerie similarity which exists now in Europe in its attitude towards Islam and ISIS and that which held sway in Europe during the  thirties as Hitler and the Nazis came to power in Germany.  The other Western nations at that time willed themselves to exculpate, ignore, explain away, and rationalise Hitler's written words, speeches, and actions.  They told themselves that if Hitler were treated with respect his hostility would fade.  Was he not justified in his demand for German lebensraum since Germany had been treated so shamefully in the terms of the Treaty of Versailles?  Moreover, he did not speak for all Germany.  There were other views.  Not all Germans were Nazi's--and so forth.  The parallel justifications for Islamic atrocities strongly imply that the same self-willed blind mindset is at work.  History is indeed repeating itself.

Isolated incidents.  Men afflicted with "mental issues". As to whether there were terrorist linkages when a man repeatedly drives his car into groups of people, the police reply is, "No comment."  Yet, on another level, we all know that the authorities also know that there are connections.  But political correctness and fear, and corporate guilt, and cowardice shut mouths.  After all, the next video might name someone specific--say a local police chief, or petty councilman--and call for jihad upon his or her head. Above all, let's not inflame the situation.  Peace at any price.
