The Worm that Turned

 Professional They Ain't

How pathetic can you get.  The media's last remaining shreds of credibility have been torn away this election, leaving on public display a grotesque corpulence, festooned with pustules.  One would have thought that the media could not sink any lower when it tried to publish an illegally taped conversation, pompously asserting that it was "in the public interest".  Their hypocrisy knows no bounds it would seem.

But no.  It gets worse.
Last night TV3 had a studio audience of "independent voters" that, we were solemnly told by John Campbell at his preppy worst, was selected scientifically.  He went on to draw pointed contrast with a worm that folks at home could access--but warned that you could not trust the opinions and proclivities  of the folks at home because they might be biased one way or the other in their political opinions.  But the studio audience was above and beyond any such prejudice.  It consisted of genuinely independent voters, scientifically chosen.

It turns out that the studio audience was filled with Labour plants.  Consequently, every time Labour leader Phil Goff spoke, the worm showed a favourable audience response.  Whenever John Key spoke, the audience disapproved.  That's independence for you, at least as TV3 and John Campbell view the world.
