Europe Frozen by Faux Guilt and Misdirected Pity

Killing Innocents

People smugglers are killers.  Pure and simple.  Europe remains frozen in the headlights as people smugglers kill thousands whilst crossing the Mediterranean Sea.  European nations are "conflicted".  They are so imprisoned in a faux humanitarian ideology that they indirectly cause the deaths of innocent people--men, women, and children.

Australia faced the same crisis.  Under the previous Labour administration, the "boat people" from Indonesia, Vietnam, and other countries were carried relentlessly in rickety boats to Australia, duped and gulled by people smugglers, trading in human desperation.  As soon as Labour was tossed out, the Abbott government stopped the traffickers overnight.  They turned the boats back.  The foul trade has stopped.

By allowing the survivors into Europe as refugees, European authorities are providing every incentive for the smugglers to continue their nefarious trade.  But Tony Abbott has provided a voice of sanity amidst the crisis:

Speaking in the Australian capital Canberra, the Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has today urged the EU to end the crisis by stopping any illegal boat approaching Europe’s shores and turning it around and sending it straight back to its starting point.  Outlining his views on preventing the deaths in the Mediterranean Sea, Abbott told reporters: “We have got hundreds, maybe thousands of people drowning in the attempts to get from Africa to Europe.

“The only way you can stop the deaths is in fact to stop the boats.” [BreitbartLondon]

How did the Australians do it?

The Australian Navy was used for the operation called Sovereign Borders which saw hundreds of boats returned to Indonesia.  People traffickers who sank the boats and tried to call for assistance were instead given a lifeboat – provided by the navy –  and the passengers loaded aboard before they were towed back into Indonesian waters.  Those who refused were taken aboard navy ships and sent for processing in centres outside Australian sovereign territory. Every smuggler’s boat was the destroyed by naval gunfire.

Before Australia took this firm policy, refugee boats were arriving almost daily on Australian shores.  Now, for over 18 months there are been no people smuggling boats, and more importantly, no deaths at sea.  That is the real point.  That is the objective.  That is what Europe has forgotten.

Australian Foreign Minister, Julie Bishop had this to say:

“We know that about 1,200 people died trying to get to Australia via the people smuggling trade and we were determined to put an end to that, and we have done so,” she said.  “We have managed to stop the flow of people via the people smuggling trade but we have to be ever vigilant. So we are happy to share our experiences."

Will Europe take notice?  It is not likely.  It remains a gaggle of post-Christian nations, racked with guilt and pity.  It's wretched narcissism will mean that more innocent, helpless people will die.

Stories like this are becoming daily fare.   The only way to stop the horrific deaths of innocent people is to wage a war on the smugglers by appropriate means.  Tony Abbott has demonstrated how.  We doubt that Europe will listen. It will say, instead, by its actions, that all refugees will be welcome.  Europe will end up encouraging the smugglers to make more and more reckless trips.
