Myopia Faces Malefaction

Make Believe World

Pity US Secretary of State, John Kerry.  He has just been inflicted with a reality check, and, to his horror, discovered that his world of make-believe is looking somewhat puerile.  Not a good look for the United States.

Dear John has a view that the world is populated by two different kinds of human being: the first is the humanist human being who looks and acts remarkably like a John Kerry doppelganger.  Urbane.  Sophisticated. Liberal.  Open minded. Educated.  A man of good will.  The humanist human is found everywhere around the globe, in all religions, faiths, and countries.  The second kind of human being is the really, really evil kind who would like to kill the first kind.  John, of course, knows how to distinguish between the two.

The Islamic State Caliphate ("IS") has beheaded a Western photojournalist.  No doubt he was given the opportunity to avoid his fate in the usual terms: convert to Islam or die.  Quite reasonable really, if you are Islamic, since that particular ethic is clearly taught in the Koran itself, when one is engaged in jihad, which we all know now is believed to be a perpetual and constant reality.  But, for some inexplicable reason, Secretary Kerry is outraged.

US Secretary of State John Kerry later called the Islamic State group an "Ugly, savage, inexplicable, nihilistic, and valueless evil.  ISIL is the face of that evil, a threat to people who want to live in peace, and an ugly insult to the peaceful religion they violate every day with their barbarity," he added.
All of a sudden we see that the greatest interpreters of Islam are politicians in the western world. They know better than all the speakers in the mosques, all those who deliver terrible sermons against anything that is either Christian or Jewish. These western politicians know that there is good Islam and bad Islam. They know even how to differentiate between the two, except that none of them know how to read a word of Arabic.
Hmmm.  It seems as if beheading a Western photojournalist is beyond the pale.  But Kerry's pale is a strange affair.  This same ethical giant actively endorses the slaughter of the innocents in the womb in his own country.  Apparently, in John's book, such slaughter at home is not "ugly, savage, inexplicable, nihilistic, and valueless evil."  When John, the urbane, sophisticated, liberal, open minded, educated, man of good will advocates slaughter, its an entirely different matter, because, well, John is a good guy.

Apparently John cannot comprehend that IS is merely being a consistent, faithful, orthodox Islamic army at war.  Far from being an ugly insult to "the peaceful religion they violate every day" they are being perfectly consistent, and committed.  The old saw of attempting to drive a wedge between Islam and its "radicals" ought now to be well passed credence.  There are true believers, says IS, and then there are compromised apostate Islamic believers, whom Muhammad says deserve death, and given half a chance IS will ensure it  so.   And then there are followers of the Great Satan.  But Allah is merciful.  Even they, once conquered, shall be given the opportunity to repent and convert, and thus preserve their own lives.  If not, their fate is now apparent.

It appears, confused John that you have missed something here. How about a few reminders of what Islamic peace and orthodoxy looks like:
Qur’an:9:88 – “The Messenger and those who believe with him, strive hard and fight with their wealth and lives in Allah’s Cause.”

Qur’an:9:5 - “Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.”

Qur’an:9:112 “The Believers fight in Allah’s Cause, they slay and are slain, kill and are killed.”

Qur’an:9:29 “Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission.”

Qur’an:8:39 “Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah.”

Qur’an:8:39 “So fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief [non-Muslims]) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world).”

Ishaq:587 “Our onslaught will not be a weak faltering affair. We shall fight as long as we live. We will fight until you turn to Islam, humbly seeking refuge. We will fight not caring whom we meet. We will fight whether we destroy ancient holdings or newly gotten gains. We have mutilated every opponent. We have driven them violently before us at the command of Allah and Islam. We will fight until our religion is established. And we will plunder them, for they must suffer disgrace.”

Qur’an:8:65 “O Prophet, urge the faithful to fight. If there are twenty among you with determination they will vanquish two hundred; if there are a hundred then they will slaughter a thousand unbelievers, for the infidels are a people devoid of understanding.”

Qur’an:9:123 “Fight the unbelievers around you, and let them find harshness in you.”
It is a real worry when a person carrying the authority and dignity of the US Secretary of State can live in such a make-believe world, celebrating his own country's bloodshed, whilst condemning others for atrocities.  At the same time, he appears to be wilfully ignorant of the particular religions which animate, motivate, and command such atrocities--both his and theirs--in a kind of "see no evil, hear no evil" kind of way.

As Professor Moshe Sharon once wrote, back in 2004:
All of a sudden we see that the greatest interpreters of Islam are politicians in the western world. They know better than all the speakers in the mosques, all those who deliver terrible sermons against anything that is either Christian or Jewish. These western politicians know that there is good Islam and bad Islam. They know even how to differentiate between the two, except that none of them know how to read a word of Arabic.
Funny that.  They say that Hades has no fury like an effete Western liberal scorned.
