Dodos Not Yet Extinct
The Maritime Union has commenced a three-week strike at the Ports of Auckland. Thankfully the Port is no longer a closed shop. Cargo will still be moved, albeit at reduced levels. But the strike represents what could well be the last desperate standover bullying action of an antediluvian union.
The Port is busy going through the process of moving all of its workforce on to contracts. Almost certainly the union guys will be made redundant so they can go ply their "trade" elsewhere.
Here is a video describing how the union treats non-union workers at the Port. The Union represents thugs, bullies, and racists. When the Maritime Union goes the way of the dodo the City of Auckland will not shed any tears. Well past its due-by date.
