No More Mud

Mr Goff Needs Our Support and  Compassion

It has now got to the stage where all the public mockery and mudslinging at Philip Goff must stop.  It is not just tasteless.  It has become clear that it is now entirely inappropriate.

Mr Goff is leader of New Zealand's loyal opposition--the union and homosexual controlled Labour Party.  Since Mr Goff is neither a unionist nor a homosexual, he has had a very difficult task in his role as leader.  To his credit he has not complained.

Mr Goff has been involved in a very public dispute with the head of New Zealand's Intelligence Service ("SIS").
We cannot recall the name of the public servant in question, but that's all right since it is supposed to be a secret anyway.  Mr Goff has claimed that the head of the SIS failed to brief him on a certain security situation that arose during the recent Christchurch earthquake.  The details are not important.  They are secret too.

Mr Goff first accused the Prime Minister of failing in his duty to keep the Leader of the Loyal Opposition briefed on such matters.  Later the head of the SIS claimed that he, in fact, had met with Mr Goff and had briefed him, certifying the same on the briefing document he had used.  Mr Goff denied ever having received a briefing, and implied that the head of NZ's intelligence service was lying, whereupon some mischievous ne'er do well used the Official Information Act to request the actual briefing document.  It has been released now publicly--with all the juicy bits blacked out of course--but with the certification of the document being used to brief Mr Goff very visible--date and statement of use--viz:  "Read by/Discussed with Mr Goff, 14 March, 11".

Mr Goff was interviewed last night on the nightly news stating emphatically, unequivocally and quite credibly that he had no memory of that briefing.

Thus, inadvertently, it has become public that Mr Goff is afflicted with significant memory loss that suggests most probably early onset Alzheimer's.    It is important that we give the man some space and respect.
